About the Role

We are looking for a YugabyteDB Administrator (L3) to manage, operate, and optimize our distributed SQL database environments. This role involves hands-on administration, cluster operations, performance tuning, and ensuring high availability of YugabyteDB clusters across on‑premises and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and administer YugabyteDB clusters (YSQL and YCQL).
• Perform day-to-day operations including monitoring, patching, scaling, backup/restore, and upgrades.
• Manage multi-node, multi-region, and geo-distributed cluster architectures.
• Troubleshoot cluster issues related to performance, replication, node failures, networking, or query execution.
• Optimize database performance, indexes, workload distribution, and storage configurations.
• Implement and validate backup/restore strategies using YB tools and external frameworks.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and automatic failover configurations.
• Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support schema changes, query tuning, and deployment best practices.
• Automate database operations using scripting languages and DevOps workflows.
• Maintain compliance with security, encryption, audit, and access management standards.
• Provide on-call support for production environments as needed.

Required Skills

• 5–8 years of experience as a DBA or database engineer, with 3+ years in YugabyteDB or distributed SQL systems.
• Strong understanding of YugabyteDB architecture (DocDB, Raft consensus, Tablet Servers, Masters).
• Hands-on expertise with:
  • YSQL, YCQL
  • Cluster creation, replication, rebalancing
  • Multi-AZ / multi-region configurations
• Experience with query tuning, execution plans, partitioning, and sharding concepts.
• Familiarity with HA/DR strategies for distributed databases.
• Strong skills in Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and system resource tuning.
• Scripting experience in Bash / Python / PowerShell for automation.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Yugabyte Platform.
• Solid understanding of database security, authentication, RBAC, TLS setup, and auditing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of related distributed databases (CockroachDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with Kubernetes-based YugabyteDB deployments (YugabyteDB Anywhere / Helm charts).
• Certifications in cloud or database technologies.
